Here everything points to 8/1, since getting hit is a total disaster. But even in more common situations, making the 4th home board point when you have so much wood in the zone is standard.
White is Player 2
score: 4
pip: 1597 point match pip: 130
score: 2

Here the hits don't matter so much, and the big consideration by far is preventing White from anchoring. Still, 8/1 creates 7 more fanning numbers and follows up more cleanly by making a 5pt board when White fails to anchor.
