Well if you thought I was going to post it here when it's already on my site you're off your rocker. The correct play is the minor split, 24/22 13/10. What Neil said is right, it's sort of a distraction. Also, I'm going to make a good point next turn, you can't stop me, most likely the 4 or 5 pt, maybe the bar point, and with your split I may have to take the 3 instead of one of the other points, but more than likely the 4 or 5. This puts pressure on one of the two blots, in other words if I don't use the blot you are pressuring, on the 9 pt., you'll have a direct shot. This falls back to the rule that when your opponent has made his 4 or 5 pt. you should strive as soon as possible to split and get an anchon. Here you're using your X ply evaluation acting as if I've already made one of the points, which most of the time I have, and splitting. The major split is obviously too risky and I never even considered rolling it out.
