I'm a bit late here, but this would be my thought process.

1. I can't hit.

2. I'm leaving a ton of shots no matter what.

3. I'm behind in the race with more checkers back and my opponent has no board. So bold play is called for.

4. Slotting the 5pt is the purest play so it should be considered.

5. Nothing else looks any good.
