"Soft play is collusion, period. But is it always cheating?"

You are cheating yourself with soft play.

By checking it down with a friend, if you have the best hand, you are giving infinite odds to be drawn out on. -EV

By not calling a friend's all-in with decent odds, you are leaving potential winnings on the table. -EV

You are also cheating the rest of the table out of reads on your betting patterns. When I'm not in a hand, I'm watching and studying everything. I hate when I see 2 players I don't know enter a game, and when they get heads up with each other, check it down.
