1)I like the idea of making a point 6 away from white's anchor. I also like making an advanced anchor, but I like the other idea better.

2) Not enough timing for a good backgame, so the obvious 24/23 is not as attractive as it seems at first. But if we're going to play 24/23 it seems like 8/4 is the way to play the four. And since I'm not seeing any other attrractive idea to get us out of our 45 pip racing deficit, it's what I'll reluctantly play.
