A good distribution with no shot-leaving numbers isn't by itself enough to justify not preparing the clear the 6pt against an ace-point game; see for example this position. But 5(2) creates four immediate shot-leavers, which is evidently too much. Perhaps the checker on the bar makes a difference too, since that yields more immediate hitting numbers if a shot materializes.
