Mochy: Mike, What does (intermediate points count) means? That is a good question. It is one I stumbled on myself.
The third part of the Hit/More/Six Rule is the 6pt Convention. The 6pt Convention itself has two parts. Its first priority is the location of made points. Closer to the 6pt is always better. It is the second part of the 6pt Convention, the part that deals with the destinations of blots and spares that are moved during a play, that considers intermediate landing spots.
When 21 is played 13/10, the final destination is the 10pt. The intermediate landing spot is the 11pt. When I say that, “intermediate points count,” I mean that both the 10pt and the 11pt are considered to be destinations when ranking plays under the 6pt Convention.
For an example where an intermediate destination affects the ranking of plays in a Nactation family, see this post from Nack. It is the one that led to my “epiphany.”
