Normally when there is a possible exchange of hits on the barpoint, you would be hesitant to start stripping the mid, because a series of return-hitting 6s would mean giving up the midpoint and blotting there. Here, however, we would have the option of playing 22/16 instead of 13/7*, so that argument against 13/11 does not apply. What 13/11 does then is to increase the number of return hits in case we are hit on the barpoint, and increase the number of point making rolls in case we are left alone.
