According to the USBGF website, an "event" is "The Main event – all flights in all divisions;" and "the major side events with longer match lengths typically started the day before the Main event, often called “Masters” and “Advanced” Jackpot." I.e., the Open/Championship, Advanced/Intermediate and Novice/Beginner flights, and a Masters, as Chuck recalled, but a fifth "Advanced" or "Limited" jackpot may also be rated. So any one rated tournament has had from two to five rated events (I don't think any have had six). From Jan 2009 to May 2012 there have been 63 tournaments.

I'm not sure if 2009 results are only partial. There are 13 rated tournaments in 2009 beginning with Carolina in January. Are any tournaments missing or flights gone unrated?

If I'm interpreting Daniel's tally correctly, 1432 people participated at some time in these 3+ years and 65% of them participated, on average, in one or less tournament per year.

That's about right. The 1432 tally is not exact, since it includes some duplicate entries. 37% of participants have only played in exactly one tournament in the last 41 months. Another 18% have played in only two events, and since most rated players are not Masters (or Limited JP) players, most of them have probably played in exactly two tournaments. Similarly for another 10.4%, most of which have probably played in exactly three tournaments.
