Why donīt you ask Phil Simborg himself about his opinion on shorter matches and best of 3? Iīm sure heīll explain it to you much better than I ever could.

Basically, each cube decision has to be accurate and mistakes are punished heavily. Itīs anything but a coin-flip. And itīs much more interesting for viewers.

And make no mistake: from the stand point of a TD, itīs so much easier to have 1 long match than 3 sets of shorter ones. It can delay the entire tournament and itīs much tougher to schedule.

Example:

1 match to 15 points = 2 x 30 min + 12 secs delay per move + 3 breaks of 5 min. each per player..... about 2 hours.

3 matches to 7 points = up to an hour each set (including 1 break of 5 min per player) = 3 hours, not counting the breaks between each set.
