... there is nothing wrong with the game which as been around for millenniums ...
The game we play today hasn't been around for millenniums. (The doubling cube, chouettes, match play, crawford rule, and clocks were all introduced this past century.)
The reason backgammon has been around for millenniums is because people are continually looking for ways to make the game better.
