If we fail to do so, we're all be having another giraffe in 2 years time at the expense of backgammon. Surely, we can't allow that to happen...can we?

Of course we'll allow that to happen. We are backgammon players, we are eternally lazy. If we weren't, would the 'World Championships' (Monte Carlo) really still exist as it does and has for the past X years? I'm not the only player who uses quotes when referring to said tournament and that's kind of sad.
