Doubles Partner: Contrasting or Complimentary?

Does "successful" mean "reaching the finals"? In ABT tournaments 2011-2012, Ed O'Laughlin has done that 4 times, 3 times with his son Austin. Alfred Mamlet has done that 4 times, with 4 different partners. 3-time finalists are Ray Fogerlund, Harvey Gillis, Alan Grunwald, Petko Kostadinov, all with three different partners.
