1. We can hit 0, 1, or 2 times. If we play 16/13 2/1, then White has 25 shots. If we play 16/12*, then White has 20 shots, 11 of which hit our ace-point blot. If we play 16/15*/12*, then White has 14 shots, 11 of which hit our ace-point blot; plus if White rolls 22 32 42 52 62 (9 additional rolls), then she probably gets another shot at our ace-point blot. Normally, hitting twice is the way to go because it gains us time to scramble home, but here, getting the second checker hit is pretty bad. Five extra shots seems a reasonable price to pay for avoiding the risk of getting a second checker sent back right away; plus if we manage to roll just one more ace then our cleanup problem is solved for good. A difficult and unfamiliar decision but I will try 16/13 2/1.

2. I count 12 hitting rolls (any 5 except 65, plus 63 and 44). If Blue doesn't hit then what does he have to show for himself? This must be an easy take. Does the Jacoby Rule make this a double? Perhaps, but I'd hold the cube here. ND/T.

3. White's position looks pretty bad but I think she can take. If Blue dances, which he's favored to do, and White rolls a 5, then Blue's outfield blots are in danger of getting picked up. White doesn't have a lot of spare pips to play with but she does have a few; 21 31 41 all let her hold a five-point board, and 6's are killed. Not completely sure about the take, though, since White does have two checkers to extricate, and obviously Blue's 6 is (usually) a huge market-loser. D/T.
