I would think it would be between cutting your losses with 13/8 or trying to improve your back game timing and increasing your chances of making the 23-point by hitting on the ace. I'm guessing that your gammon risk is already so high that you might as well hit. 13/8 leaves you with a smaller mess that looks harder to repair.
