Nice problem.

My answer - 23/18 but it is an absolute guess.

It seems to me there are four options for the 5 -

23/18; 13/8; 8/3; 5/1*;

Usually, I start by asking what the game plan is. Sadly this is where I have no idea with this problem.

I do not think the game plan is a backgame yet - we do not have the timing and if things go badly we will be left with a hard to play ace point game. I guess what we are aiming to do is to give us the opportunity of winning going forward and if this does not go well, we may end with a better timed backgame.

If we are not playing for the backgame, it is difficult to see the advantages of 8/3 or 5/1*.

13/8 does not seem to help us win going forward.

I would therefore choose 23/18. It gives us the opportunity of making the 18 point and the chance of winning going forward. If we are missed we have the chance of making the 18 point. If we are hit, we should have improved the timing of the backgame.
