Re: his response...perhaps splitting is close at GS but does it really save many more G's ? I am rather sure his 41 should be played by slotting at this score, but do later cubeful ramifications matter ? ...ie he splits to try to anchor and steer the game into something that I cannot cube quickly.

At this score, I think building w/52 is rather clear since I gain lots by jacking up G chances. You're right, however that in spite of many many years of experience playing against building 52's (almost no one split prior to the early 90's) many strong players still err in reply.

This game was very interesting and I'll later show where I had an interesting cube decision.

I'm not yet saying how I played the 21.
