Re: his response...perhaps splitting is close at GS but does it really save many more G's ? I am rather sure his 41 should be played by slotting at this score, but do later cubeful ramifications matter ? ...ie he splits to try to anchor and steer the game into something that I cannot cube quickly.

The best way to determine this, I think, is to do cubeful rollouts at -2, -4. The checker play is surely different from -1, -2 IMO.
