Blue is losing this race by too far to try one of the safe plays. White's board is strong but it is not overwhelming. Also, White has a liability with a blotted 5. Blue just must hit 6/4*. Now the question becomes what to do with the 4. 10/7 may be right. But it leaves few covering numbers. 12/10 leaves more covering numbers with more return shots. My aggressive 13/9 leaves the maximum amount of covering numbers. Obviously the risk are great with four blots. I am hoping that my opponent does not cube from the bar. My online experience tells me that this is unlikely. If it works, I probably am in great shape. If it does not, I will pass any cube.

When substantially losing in a race, one may need to try a dangerous hit to regain position or reduce the race lead.
