I'm a big fan of adjusting myself, but I do understand players who are not.
Two reasons for not adjusting would be:
1) You dont really know what youre doing, so you can end up overadjusting, thus inducing errors yourself. Adjusting is something you need to study to excel in, both as to when and how much. In some positions an opponent's weakness will at the same time draw your important cube points in both directions. Eg. He will make errors in the remainder of the current game, vs. He will make errors in the rest of the match.
2) You're used to playing only top class opponents. If you don't often play weaker opponents, it would seem that you get more equity worth of your efforts trying to improve PR against XG, than studying skewed METs and analyzing positions where adjustment is relevant.
I myself play many players vs. whom I'm a 3 PR point or more favorite against, that clearly affects my opinion on this subject.
