In Response To: SURVEY Q6 - Should TD's support one another's Tournaments? (Mr Majestyk)

Silly question. EVERYONE should support everyone else's tournaments. If we don't support each other, who will. And I'll go a step further, anyone who works "against" anyone else's tournament, or tries to undermine them, form a boycott, or encourage others not to attend, UNLESS they have clear, proven greivances such as proof of intentionally unfair or dishonest dealings, should be censored and shunned by the backgammon community.

While the Standards of Ethical Practice of the USBGF discourage negative actions that would hurt the game or tournaments or events, there is no teeth or ability to do anything about distractors, and I don't believe any other Federations around the world can either, but in the meantime, as a community, we need to all support each other and when someone fails to do that, or acts negatively, we all need to do what we can to minimize that person's credibility and effectiveness in their personal vendettas.

I bring this up because I seen this happening too much in recent years. If you don't like someone or their tournaments, don't go. You are free to tell your friends you are not going and why. But if you campaign to stop others and undermine their club, tournaments, or events, you are hurting the game and we all need to discourage that behavior.

For a tournament director, in particular, to do this is not only most aggregious, but it's stupid.
