Not an easy position! After our move, the race will be about even, but I think Stick dislikes the contact most since he has more points to clear. Moreover, we are not ready to hit a checker yet, so we need to bring checkers up front. Releasing the anchor on the 18-point is then out of the question. Moving the spare on the 18-point will lead to a blot unless we play 18/6, and the best 4 then will be 6/2. So if we are moving a checker from the 18-point it will have to be 18/2. This will lead to an inflexible position, where our only plays are bringing checkers down from the midpoint. Better to leave the 18-point alone and only play from the mid here. 13/9(3) 6/2 covers a blot in our home board (but it's the wrong one) and strips 6-point. 13/9(2) 13/5 doesn't cover any blot, and both of these plays leaves us a little bit with the TMP-problem that Stick has. My play will be 13/5(2). If we roll a 5 next turn, we can play 18/13, if we roll big we can play the spare from the mid into home board and if we roll small we can cover blots in home board with spares on 5- and 6-points. I guess there will be several different suggestions on this play!
