Thanks for your kind words. I would not go so far as to say that the information I provided was practically useful in the sense that anyone should learn the tables, but it is interesting to have a lower bound for the equity of pushmonkey play (and for all the reasons you mention, I think it would work significantly better in practice). Also, having an optimal solution can help to check and refine one's intuition, which just might come in handy later on.
