I'm curious as to what you mean by "playing on because of the score." When you say "play on," do you mean that you thought you might be too good? When you're trailing 3a2a, it's rare (impossible?) to be too good unless your opponent has a drop. This is in contrast to if you're leading 2a3a, when you might very well hold the cube in a gammonish position even if your opponent has a clear take.
