All true! I lived in Beijing for 10+ years, which was also quite enjoyable, again nice food and nice people, but I cannot say that it was very green or that the weather was mild.

I started out there doing some cooperation work for the UN with the planning commission on environmental issues, to 'green' their national planning. That is how I got my Chinese e-mail address, which I was allowed to keep. The "mx.cei.gov.cn" addresses were the ones that the planning commission people used at the time, so it is a nice one to keep.

I've been lucky to live in countries I like (Netherlands included), but in any case, would not live long-term in a country I do not like, no need to do that and go sour.
