Does Stick cheat?

Isn't there an enormous risk if you make a bet on the ER that the difficulty of games is in the hands of the parties? I mean: in regular backgammon most games don't present many problems while the great majority of errors occur in a small subset of games. If I play against Stick and the money mostly depends on his ER, we'll be playing an unusual amount of highly complex games. I don't think Stick's opponent should have a stake determined by Stick's ER, only by his net score. Stick also has a small opportunity to game this: if, at the start of a long race, he is presented with a double that is normally a marginal pass, he should consider taking. After all, a take will increase the denominator by an additional number of moves so that this reduces his overall ER.
