Thanks Jake, I did not know all of this. I was in Monaco in 1988, and I recall that he seemed to be a genuinely nice guy, easy and relaxed. Seem to remember he won semis against Ben Zion with a 16 cube, with a 55 on the last roll (poor quality video KG: "I can't see the dice!").

In the finals, Marmorstein had all the dice.
