You think I don't know that? I have filled my handwritten notebooks with over 2000 positions from my own games. But I want more! Buying a book gives me a bunch of positions all at once without having to generate them myself. Furthermore, they can cover areas of the game that don't arise all that frequently in practice.

Regarding point 2 do you mean interesting random facts specifically about backgammon?
