Great position. I think it is a double/take

Dealing with it in order:

Take - white has 3 points made; blue has 3 checkers on the 24 point. If blue uses 1s or 2s to make the 4 point, he cannot use those numbers to diversify off the 24 spot. A run of 3s and 4s has the potential to play horribly.

Double - certainly against a human, because I have no idea if white has a take. In addition, rolls like 12 are likely to be market losers.

As for Stick's variation, I suspect it is also a double/take (but the double being borderline and take being clearer) despite the additional duplication.
