Depends on where you're from!

In Denmark (where the bet was made), there are more cycling clubs registered, than there are tennis clubs. However, the number of registered people within those clubs, turn things around, so you have 3 times as many memberships at tennis. This is due to all the big cycling competitions for amateurs and "fitness riders", are filled with people who are not members of any club, even though they actually ride and train regularly, AND participates in competitions now and then.

You won't get access to a tennis court, if you're not member of a club. Same goes for golf, etc.

In Italy, you have more registered cyclists (competitive) than you have tennis players.
