Actually there is not much difference.

I quickly estimated the time of a N point match by having XG self play (now, of course humans, may have different timing)

  • 25 point match: 10.91 seconds per match
  • 11 point match: 4.46 seconds per match
  • 7 point match: 2.76 seconds per match

    Note the relation between time and Length is linear (i.e. a 10 point match take twice longer than a 5 point match)

    A best of 3 series end in average after 2.5 Matches A best of 5 series end in average after 4.125 Matches

  • one 25 point match: 10.91 seconds per session
  • Best of 3 , 11 point match: 11.14 seconds per session
  • Best of 5 , 7 point match: 11.38 seconds per session

    In other word, the difference is very small

    PS: Miran's numbers are right on the money. For a 100 Elo difference, here is the chances of win for the better player:
  • one 25 point match: 64.01%
  • Best of 3 , 11 point match: 63.98%
  • Best of 5 , 7 point match: 63.95%

    for a 200 Elo difference:

  • one 25 point match: 75.97%
  • Best of 3 , 11 point match: 76.11%
  • Best of 5 , 7 point match: 76.13%
