Dice lands on corner

Why did the die topple? Was it because of some influence like someone kicking or nudging the table, or because the die that appeared to have come to rest on a corner had not actually come to rest at all? That is, there was movement too minute for humans to perceive and, after perhaps a few seconds, the movement was sufficient to cause the die to topple.

I presume that you were using those rounded dice where the corners are not brought to a small point? It is not too hard to balance such a die on it's corner, and I have seen such dice end up on their corners in a game several times. But I've never managed to balance by hand those dice with the slightly pointed corners, and also unsurprisingly never seen it happen in a game. If you want to avoid such ambiguity in the future, consider replacing your dice.
