Well, it makes a (big) difference between WC and XGR++ first pass.
What I'm saying that doesn't make a big difference, is the search interval size for XGR++, as long as you go for minimum the large one.
I bring it up, because typically it's time that refrains people from using XGR++ first pass, compared to WC. That, or they just don't want to bother with settings (XGR++ is not on any of the presets).
So, I simply told you (giving input), that if I were you, I'd be one of the people pushing the bar, not just following others (old) habits. That's all.
Why I referenced Neil's settings? Because he is the combination of being a very low-PR playing giant, and has done a LOT of work with XG settings, rollouts and messing around with it (opening book, MET, you name it). I would put a little more weight to his opinion that I would most others.
