Take a look at not hitting bar/24 5/2 and see that it doesn't force many cracking rolls, and lets White attack the 4 point effectively often. Take a look at hitting once bar/23* 5/3 and see that it doesn't, either -- White can play all aces except 1-5 nicely. Neither play seems to give Blue a much better, if any, chance of bringing his own back checkers out Think ahead to where you want White's back checkers to be in the portion of games where you successfully extract your own back checkers -- you want them on the bar, not anchored on the ace point, right? I'd play bar/23* 2/1*(2).
