I don't know robertie but if I had to guess (I am merely voluntarilly guessing now) I'd say that if he were really going to make that kind of comment it would be anonymous, and if he were to use his acutal name he'd say something along the lines of given the limitations of the time, I thought, and still think, this was a great book. If you want my ideas to be more up to date you should by my latest book instead.

I also happen to think his nick would simply be robertie, sans "bill".
