I detect another quotaholic (forget the correct word, anyone remember?) so here's a few backatcha Daniel, which seem pertinent here, at least to me:
Every act of conscious learning requires the willingness to suffer an injury to one's self-esteem. That is why young children, before they are aware of their own self-importance, learn so easily; and why older persons, especially if vain or important, cannot learn at all. -Thomas Szasz, author, professor of psychiatry (1920- )
You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than what others say about him.- Leo Aikman
In some circumstances, the refusal to be defeated is a refusal to be educated. -Margaret Halsey, novelist (1910-1997)
Perceived mistakes can lead you down wonderful and unexpected paths that expose you to life-changing insights.-Daily Om October 19, 2006
Those who never retract their opinions love themselves more than they love truth. -Joseph Joubert, essayist (1754-1824)
Rare is the person who can weigh the faults of others without putting his thumb on the scales. -Byron J. Langenfeld
New opinions are always suspected, and usually opposed, without any other reason but because they are not already common. -John Locke, philosopher (1632-1704)
The road to wisdom? Well it's plain and simple to express: Err and err and err again, but less and less and less. -Piet Hein, poet and scientist (1905-1996)
Say oh wise man how you have come to such knowledge? Because I was never ashamed to confess my ignorance and ask others. -Johann Gottfried Von Herder, critic and poet (1744-1803)
I have more, I just thought I need draw the line SOMEwhere! *grin
