Try to count White's good and bad responses and weigh Blue's equity after each category. It might help. Roughly:

24/16
11 rolls	-> Blue is a doubling favorite
2 rolls (6-5)	-> Blue is a favorite
23 good rolls (the hits)	-> even race; Blue is only a slight underdog
13/7 9/7
20 rolls	-> Blue doubles most or all of these
3 rolls (makes the bar point)	-> a close game
11 very good rolls (hits on the midpoint)	-> Blue is a definite underdog with 2 checkers back although having the better prime.
2 excellent rolls (6-2)	-> Blue is a serious underdog
