I noticed this oddity the first time I went through the match too. I couldn't come up with a good explanation as I'll never be using the cube and even though double 3s next turn is bad for me after my play, it isn't the end of the world. The other play we can all see leaves an immediate bad double sixes and that has to count for something.
FWIW a rollout shows my play to be correct.
