Thanks for producing another excellent webcast.
Pluses:
- You have a natural way of speaking that is very easy to listen to.
- You stay on point. There are few, or no, unrelated asides.
- You have none of the speakling flaws that afflict so many of us. No ers or ums.
- Your backgammon knowledge is immense.
- This format allows you to present your thought process as it naturally occurs. What you think of first over the board is what you remark upon first in the lecture.
- I particularly liked your discussion of the DMP in general, and the play of the 44 in particular. It came up in the Crawford game, when running was better than making the 5pt.
- The slower animation worked perfectly.
Minuses:
- You rushed through the recap too quickly. It would be nice to have had more time to recognize the positions as they came up for review. You could use it as an opportunity to reiterate the most important points you discussed, but in bullet-point form.
- There was a bit too much “dead air” during the recap (but not in the match). This occurs naturally because you are focused on recalling the positions yourself, but it is nevertheless distracting. Learning how to fill that dead air meaningfully, while you are also engaged in other mentation, is a real skill, indeed.
- There seemed to be sound drop outs during the recap. It seemed like you were talking, but I heard nothing on the broadcast.
- Unless Pepsi pays me some money, I would prefer not to see their sugar-water product placement! But if I get paid enough, then I don’t mind.
