I hereby give thanks to all the players in the online match for continuing to supply the explanations that sometimes seem obvious.

In this case, I voted for moving 2 out. It felt right. I tend to prefer moving the last two checkers around together (so long as big doubles still play). I could not have explained, however, precisely why bring two checkers out is better in this position than running all the way with only one.

Daniel provided the answer. It was a true “Eureka!” moment for me. It needed no further elucidation than his simple “avoiding spares 6 apart.” All the lights went on at once.
