That looks useful. If each side, as is possibly the case here with checkers on ace and checkers on 6 point, are a hybrid pips-rolls position then the total variability might be right as well. Maybe look at the total of those two averages.

Note that checkers on low points decease variability in number of rolls to bearoff and is good for the leader. It could be he or opponent and the rule works either way. If both sides are a bit rollish the leader gets some of that advantage but twice.

This effect is large enough to worry about. A pure 6 roll vs 6 roll gives 69.8% cpw. A pure 6 roll position vs pips position with same epc of 43.0 such as 002222 gives cpw of 66.3%. And that pips position against itself gives cpw of 64.6%
