You say blue can take some chances to consolidate because of the two blots. So if opponent is given the 3 point is the safe play best?
In a word, yes. But sometimes that safe play is Z = Reverse split (14/11).
As you move White’s point deeper into his board, blotty plays become increasingly competitive. When White owns the 2pt or 3pt, N = Near (13/11 6/5) is tied with one of the safe plays.
