10 checkers in the zone, an opponents checker on the roof, and a blot to shoot at - this says blitz to me. Anchoring on the 18 seems a wasted opportunity with so much offense to be had on the other side of the board.

The first move I like is to cover the blot with 6/2, then bring down three from the midpoint to have 13 checkers in the zone.

Slotting the 5 is tempting and is great when it works, but I don't think it works often enough to justify the risks.

Simply making the 5 with 13/5(2) also has its allure - it's more prime than bitz, but it works as a blitz play. I think I like that better, despite the blot on the two.

A hybrid play, 13/5 13/9 6/2 is worth considering, but seems too loose with blue's considerable racing lead.

13/5(2) for me.
