Too bad you didn't RO 24/21 20/18 which was my move. (and Daniel's too) I am sure there are others who would play it as well.
My line of thought was similar to Daniel's, I thought hitting was too blotty and 4-5 game didn't look like the right idea to me with such a large pip deficit + it leaves our opponent so many hitting numbers.
I still refuse to believe that 24/21 20/18 is so much worse. It gives us nice, solid position with lots of play left, I am not sure opponent will play all of his bear-in moves correctly. I could be wrong but I think that in practice it isn't nearly as bad as XG says.
