I would have played 13/7 5/4. I think 13/7 6/5 comes out well because White has already made the 2-point and Blue already has the 21-anchor. Even if both checkers are hit, we'd have a lot of counterplay. Another part of the story is that 13/7 5/4 only leaves one blot, but nevertheless gets hit very often, so it is not really the race-protecting play I thought it was.

8/2* 5/4 ought to be worse than 13/7 5/4 because it fails to develop the stack on the mid, leaves two blots, breaks a point, and slots a relatively unimportant point. Putting White on the bar is not important right now.
