White is Player 2

score: 2
pip: 110
7 point match
pip: 80
score: 4

Blue is Player 1
XGID=-BABCbCB----bB-----bbcbb--:1:1:1:64:4:2:0:7:10
Blue to play 64

Stick: After playing what you suggest you're playing, pay later via lifting the 7pt, do you really think your opponent ever should release the midpoint on his next roll?

Well, if it’s not the midpoint, then it has to be the anchor or the inner board. Switching points in the home board is a temporizing maneuver I did not take into account. As White, that’s how I would play most threes: 13, 23, 43 and 53. Those 8 rolls should be lumped with the safe 21 as good rolls for White. But what about 54 52 51 42 41? And even though big doublets play acceptably well for White, he will be squeezed with rolls of 11 and 22. With most 6s, as well.

Supposing that Blue does opt to pay later. In White’s shoes, would you play to leave a blot on the midpoint, bust your board, or spring a runner (assuming you had a choice)?

Is Stick trying to point out that running off the anchor is a lesser evil than opening up the midpoint? Blue has only two direct numbers to hit, and would have to deal with his blot on the 2pt if he does hit. If so, I missed it completely. My thought was to hold the anchor until the end.
