White's decision after Blue plays safe is what I call a "concession stand" position because White (usually) has to concede something. These can be difficult decisions in their own right and I've posted a number of them to rec.games.backgammon. Running a single checker off the anchor can sometimes be correct even if the opponent has a four-point board, if the opponent has a dead checker or two and not much attacking potential. Leaving a blot on the midpoint can also be correct if the opponent has enough rolls that force her to break her midpoint next time. Playing two down from the midpoint keeps the gammons down and retains the best racing chances, but here White's racing chances are really bad and Blue's gammons are devalued ATS.

Having said all that, I'm still not sure how to play all of White's rolls here, but I think that either running one checker off the anchor or one checker off the midpoint is likely to be close, if not outright correct, with many of White's larger rolls.
