In unlimited games, or at the GS score in Timothy’s post, I would not volunteer a shot here. Even when you factor in 20+ pips of wastage for Blue (and perhaps 9 or 10 pips for White), Blue’s lead is large enough that he can afford to wait. It will be just as easy to leave a shot on the next turn or the turn after as it is now, so there is no rush to open up.

At GS, won’t Blue’s incentive to play safe be increased?
