I didn't answer not because it's boring but figured I'd wait to be the last to chime in. In waiting to be the last it seems I'm the first.

This is a more common problem than one might think and the right play is both from the mid, 13/12 13/9. The reasoning I've come up with in the past is that it gets two crossovers with everything else being equal. Also, should that blot in the outfield get stuck there when you get closed out it will be less shots being on your 12pt than your 13pt when the opponent hops out and stays there with a six. If you look at the breakdown in the numbers I expect the main reason two from the mid is correct in this and many similar positions is less gammons lost.

I expect the correct play to remain the same with a 51 and probably even a 61 to play.
