I wasn't sure what you meant, but this google definition perhaps makes things clearer:

"Attempt to persuade or coerce (someone) into doing something: "it might now be possible to pressure him into resigning"."

Prior to clocks, I sometimes felt pressured to play faster. Is that the type of thing you are talking about? Anyway, the solution in that case is always play with a clock.
